Business Talk: Life & investments in the period of uncertainty

In October, Cyprus Sotheby’s International Realty held the open business talk “Life and investments in the period of uncertainty”.

The speakers of the event were Andrey Movchan, founder of investment and asset management Movchan’s Group, Sergey Sander, Managing Director real estate marketing company Leading Properties of the World, and Anastasia Yianni, CEO of Cyprus Sotheby’s International Realty.

The speakers discussed the topic of investments.
Andrey Movchan shared his views on the financial markets, investors’ expectations, trends and outlooks on the economies of different countries and regions. He considers that today success in investments means shifting away from passive investments approach to the combination of macro analyses with operations on niche markets which requires professional teams. Movchan also gave recommendations how to choose the type of investment product to match with the investor’s risk appetite.

Anastasia Yanni spoke about the benefits of investing in real estate. Real estate as an investment is a good choice for conservative investors and for diversification of an investment portfolio. The growing Cypriot property market looks attractive. Yanni provided statistics on sales volumes and main buyers, discussed in detail the attractive tax system and the opportunity of obtaining a residence permit when purchasing real estate as well as additional growth drivers such as launch of new universities and transformation of Cyprus into a “tech island”.

Sergey Sander, an expert in investments, business migration and real estate, spoke about alternatives to Cyprus in terms of purchasing real estate and obtaining alternative citizenship and residency through investment. As a global citizen with experience of living and doing business in different countries, he shared insights about his life in London, Lisbon, Portugal, Greece, Spain, and also gave his personal recommendations of the best places for life and investments.
