Sotheby's Russian Art Auction

They cover the full spectrum of Russian art, from icons to contemporary, from 19th century paintings to Fabergé, from Imperial and Soviet porcelain to as non-official Soviet art.

This year’s Sotheby’s sales of Russian Pictures and Russian Works of Art, strong results were achieved by Fabergé offering a diverse and wide-ranging selection of Russian art and craftsmanship spanning several centuries.

The auction also exhibited 158 paintings by the greatest Russian artists, including Aivazovsky, Benois, Brullov, Kliun, Savrasov, Polenov, Larionov and other great names. The most expensive piece of art sold at this auction was the “Spherical Suprematism” executed in the first half of the 1920s by Kliun. Ivan Kliun, born Klyunkov, was a Russian Avant-Garde painter, sculptor and art theorist, associated with the Suprematist movement. The painting was estimated at 2,500,000 - 3,500,000 GBP and sold at 4,867,900GBP

Sotheby’s has unparalleled access to collectors thanks to a global network of specialists based in London, New York and Paris, a dedicated Russian desk in the Private Client Group and a long-established presence in Moscow.
